About Bergtagen AS, and why chose Narvik

Bergtagen mountain guides are located in the heart of Northern Norway in the small city of Narvik. Narvik is an industrial town with  focus on shipping out iron comming by train from Sweden. Because of that, the town was a focal point during WW2. For us it is more about what surrounds the city. Thousands of peaks perfectly sculptured for Skitouring. With superb views of everything from the inland valleys and fjords to the open sea. If you don´t take our words for it, hear this; We are not native. We all moved here because we, as mountain guides, belive that Narvik is the best place to live in Norway!

Ever since the beginning, we have only used certified guides! More about that further down the page.

Sara Mikolaskova, Mountain Guide aspirant, Owner

Sara is a dedicated mountain guide aspirant with over nine years of full-time experience in climbing and skiing. She’s been on skis her whole life and fully committed herself to climbing around 15 years ago, building a deep connection to the mountains through years of focused effort and exploration.

Her path has taken her to a wide range of terrain and cultures—climbing and skiing in the USA, Japan, Thailand, China, and across Europe—broadening both her technical skills and her perspective.

Sara has worked professionally as both an instructor and a guide. She brings a solid mix of practical ability, good judgment, and a steady presence in the mountains. Always motivated to improve, she sees growth as an ongoing process and makes time to keep learning, training, and pushing her limits.

She loves exploring new places and finding new lines, but just as important to her is the social side of the work: sharing experiences, building trust, and creating good moments with the people she’s in the mountains with.

Sara is currently on track to become the first female mountain guide in the Czech Republic.

Håkon Wegge, IFMGA Mountain Guide, Owner

Håkon started working full-time as a guide in 2018 and hasn’t looked back since. When he’s not in the mountains for work, he’s often out there anyway - seeking out new ski tours, climbing both new and classic routes, summer or winter, or simply being outside with a pack and a tent.

With harness and rope, Håkon has spent the last 15 years traveling between climbing destinations across Europe. Climbing has also taken him to crags and mountains in the USA, Patagonia, Canada, and China.

In addition to working with courses and guiding for Bergtagen, Håkon is an instructor for the Norwegian Mountain Guide School/NORTIND, helping to train the next generation of IFMGA mountain guides.

What is IFMGA

IFMGA (International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations) is the highest international certification for mountain guides. It represents a multi-year education and assessment program covering alpine climbing, skiing, glacier travel, rescue techniques, and risk management.

The certification is recognized worldwide and ensures a high standard of safety, technical skills, and professionalism in mountain guiding.

At our company, we work exclusively with IFMGA-certified guides or guides in training through Nortind, the Norwegian guide association. This means you are in the hands of professionals trained to the highest international level.
